Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) Park @Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

February 23, 2018
It has been a while but I will always miss the days of swimming under the sun and chasing fishes.
Or perhaps lying on the beach listening to the wave lapping at the shore.
This paradise is about 2.5 hours flight distance from Kuala Lumpur; a cluster of islands called Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) Park, at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The 5 Islands

Namely Pulau Gaya, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Mamutik and Pulau Sulug.
Pulau Gaya, also known as Gaya Island, is the largest island in the park. It has over 20 km of hiking trails within the dense virgin, tropical forest. For those who would like to overnight here, you get to choose from Gayana Eco Resort or Bunga Raya Island Resort.
Pulau Manukan, or Manukan Island, is the second largest island in the marine park. Offshore of Manukan are coral reefs, which is ideal for snorkeling, diving and swimming. It is also the most developed island that includes 20 units of chalets, a clubhouse, few restaurants and a diving centre. Book your accommodation at Manukan Island Resort. Out of the 5 island, Manukan Island is my favorite.
Pulau Sapi, or literally known as “Cow Island”, has one of the nicest beaches in the park. No doubt it is the most popular island among tourists for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Pulau Mamutik, or Mamutik Island, is the smallest of them all. Having said so, the island is equipped with basic facilities such as changing rooms, toilets, electricity etc.
Pulau Sulug, or Sulug Island, is the farthest island. Considerably untouched and remote, this island is popular with tourists who prefer a relaxed atmosphere.
