A Spontaneous Trip
Malacca is just one of my favorite places to go for a short weekend trip. Not only it is well known for the rich Peranakan and Portuguese culture, yummy food, but also to me, a boutique hotels heaven. I’ve always wanted to stay at 1825 Gallery Hotel Malacca ever since its opening in 2015.
Anyone that enters from the front entrance at Jalan Bunga Raya will be greeted by the industrial vintage chandelier hanging on the high ceiling from what supposed to be a flour storehouse. Exposed brick wall against wooden furniture, along with the mini dum dum statue from the movie “Night at the Museum”. As if there was a leading line from the reception, I can view the lobby, an indoor pond which the ceiling is as tall as the sky, a stairway connecting all 3 floors, a lift and an access to Malacca River.
I booked the Executive Suite from Agoda among other room types; Superior King (with or without window), Standard Twin without window, Deluxe Twin, and River Suite. The Executive Suite is about 34 square meter (366 square feet) that comes with a King size bed. Also, the bathroom is so huge it can fit an overhead rain shower, a massage bathtub, his and hers double basin and a toilet seat. As much as I would like to relax in the massage bathtub, there were a few hiccups on the technical part that I had to call for help. Their service was prompt.
